Fed's Harker: Inflation still an open question
Philadelphia Fed President Patrick Harker, during a Q&A session after his speech in New York said:
• Concerned about long-term state and federal debt
• Sees the small bump by tax reform to be about 0.2% moving forward
• But net impact of tax reform on US economy is unclear
• Some inflation is dependent on the USD
• Inflation dynamics are not clear right now; still in wait and see mode
• We might see inflation firming, we might not
• Glad to see inflation firming, not clear it will hit 2%
• Seeing wage pressure in high-low skill jobs
