Fed Williams moving into the hawkish camp

FXstreet.com (Bali) - San Francisco Fed President Williams has turned quite 'hawkish' with regards to the state of the US economy, according to an interview he had with Jon Hilsenrath of the WSJ.

Williams said the US economy ended 2013 in a surprisingly strong momentum, which leads him to believe about upside risks for a possible upgrade in the Fed forecasts, although he warns that strict regulation should be implemented this time around, or else, the country risks being taken hostage by another greed-filled housing bubble.

As John Noonan, Head of IFR Markets, notes: "Williams (2014 non-voter) was considered a dove not too long ago, but his positive outlook for the US economy has put him closer to the hawkish camp. Even though Williams is a non-voter, he was research director and adviser to Janet Yellen when she ran the SF Fed from 2004 to 2010."
