AUD/USD settles below 0.7800
FXStreet (Córdoba) - AUD/USD surrendered intraday gains during the New York session and settled below the 0.7800 level, as the greenback staged a comeback across the board following the release of more supportive US data.
AUD/USD pulled back from a 3-week high of 0.7841 and fell to a low of 0.7758 before finding support. The pair is trading negatively for the day but still headed for a weekly gain, as the Aussie was propelled by much-better-than-expected Australian jobs data on Thursday.
However, from a wider perspective, AUD/USD holds pretty close to 6-year lows struck earlier this month at 0.7532 amid concerns about China, lower commodity prices and divergent monetary policy outlooks between the Fed and the RBA.
